Gina DeLuca's, First Days originally debuted at Steppenwolf Theater and is back for one night only at iO Theater. First Days is a hilarious and heart wrenching solo show comprised of original essays and stories about Gina's bizarre and often chaotic first experiences in places like Las Vegas, Hungary, and Chicago. It's about the lasting impressions the people who populate these environments make on her life; many of them weird, some of them wonderful, and all of them worth knowing.
Gina DeLuca is a comedic essayist and performer living in Chicago. Her biting deconstructions of daily life contain uniquely vivid and often grotesquely visceral imagery, delivered with dry subtlety. Self-effacing and cynical, Gina's writing speaks to the American zeitgeist with relatability and ease. Her past show, "Relatively Meaningless," was described as "savage and smart and relentlessly honest" by the Chicago Reader.
