Django in June is New England’s premiere event dedicated to the musical genre associated with the great French Gypsy guitarist, Django Reinhardt. During the week we bring together serious students of the style from all over. On the weekend the artists on our staff offer us all a grand finale on stage.
Tonight's show opens with Christine Tassan et Les Imposteurs. Christine has long been a favorite on our Django Camp teaching staff. Here's our chance to enjoy the instrumental excellence, eclectic repertoire, and exquisite vocal arrangements of the group she leads. Plus special, secret, guests. We close with three old friends who join us from Paris. If the name “Reinhardt” signifies excellence within this tradition, it fits Django's distant nephew Noé, in whose hands jaw-dropping technique meets eye-opening invention. In Romanian-born virtuoso violinist Costel Nitescu – fire meets glee. In guitarist Samy Daussat – mastery meets mischief.
