21 and over
After going back to 1977 with Eraserhead in June, we have decided to do something a little more modern. Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, Only God Forgives, Bronson) shoots violence like no filmmaker working today. There is a beauty and precision to it that is absolutely amazing. The Neon Demon is his take on the destructive nature of Hollywood and fame, and how women in the industry are treated and so easily disposed of. Refn wisely brought wrote such a heavy handed story, all from a female perspective, with Mary Laws and Polly Stenman, Moreover, he made sure that his vision was appropriatly filtered through the female lens (literally and figuratively) by having the outstanding Natasha Braier serve as cinematographer.
