David Amram and his trio, featuring his son, percussionist Adam Amram, will be giving a 90 minute concert, celebrating Amram’s lifetime involvement in jazz, Latin jazz, and world music, including musical numbers by legendary musician/composers with whom he worked, such as Sonny Rollins, Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker. He will also perform themes from his classic film scores “Splendor in the Grass” and “The Manchurian Candidate;” and will sing some of his favorite songs by his friends Phil Ochs and Woody Guthrie, and at least one scat-rap spontaneous song created on the spot from suggestions by the audience. Amram has just returned from performing at the Havana International Jazz Festival. He is the 2017 recipient of the "Highlights in Jazz Lifetime Achievement Award;" "Folk Alliance International's Lifetime Achievement Award" (2017); and the "Jay McShann Lifetime Achievement Award" (2011).
