The Dinner Party is an installation by American artist Judy Chicago, widely regarded as a seminal feminist artwork, it functions as a symbolic history of women in Western civilization. Created in 1974-79, it has been on permanent exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum since 2007.
Inspired by Judy Chicago’s work (and with the artist’s express consent), The Drake’s Chef Alexandra Feswick, and Head Curator Mia Nielsen, have worked side by side to develop an experience that marries the culinary and visual arts.
On October 29, during Canada’s premier art fair, Art Toronto, 30 of Toronto’s top female chefs, as well as artists Ness Lee, Sandra Brewster, Diane Borsato and Jennifer Murphy will bring their vision to life, creating a contemporary celebration of Chicago’s iconic installation, with a seven-course feast in an immersive art environment. Many of the city’s top male chefs will participate in The Dinner Party as servers + staff.
