Mitsu Salmon | Tsuchi
Tsuchi is a solo interdisciplinary performance drawn from the story of Mitsu’s great-grandfather’s imagration from Japan to Hawaii to pursue his dream of becoming a high-end waiter. The work delves into his life, connecting his narrative to the Hawaiian queen, a steel guitar musician, and his great-grandaughter; exporing questions of family and travel through Butoh, dance, music and text. Tsuchi is a collaboration between Mitsu and sound artists Alyssa Moxley and Kevin Carey.
Michael Sakamoto | blind spot
Michael Sakamoto and Christopher Jette present excerpts from “blind spot,” a work-in-progress dance and sound performance. Using Michael’s autobiographical narrative and visual metaphors from photography and cinema, “blind spot” addresses the intersection between intellectual property, corporate militarism and personal narrative.
