Transgender Endowment 1 (TE1) is an audio/visual historic perspective of the political, legal and social environment of the 1960’s that preceded the San Francisco Compton's Cafeteria Riot.

TE1 celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Compton's Cafeteria Riot in San Francisco's Tenderloin district presenting the context of the Riots, including: Prostitution, Transgender Women’s Civil Rights Struggles, and San Francisco Police Department Corruption/Abuse of the Transgender Community and the Queer Community in the 60’s.

It features differing perspectives of Transgender Women, diverse members of the LGBT community, LGBT academic experts, and public officials. After the show, we will engage in a salon discussion with individuals from Transgender/Queer political groups about the political climate that gave rise to the Compton's Cafeteria Riot and the birth of Transgender Rights.
