The Workday Release
The Workday Release was formed in 2009 by singer/songwriter David Ottestad. David grew up playing music every Sunday at his home church in Orange County, CA and played drums for local bands in high school.
In 2009, while attending his first year of college, he created The Workday Release and began writing and recording his own original music leading to the release of his first record "To the Beginning". Consisting of various styles of pop music, it was the acoustic song "Love in a Box" that gave The Workday Release momentum on YouTube and Pandora radio.
In 2010, David formed another band called The Wandering Tree and released the 6 song EP "Farther from Familiar".
In 2011, David began working with Pat Magnarella (manager for The Goo Goo Dolls and Green Day) and released The Workday Release's second record "Simple Distance", a 7 song acoustic EP featured heavily on MTV's 16 and Pregnant.
In 2012, David began writing his third record under the guidance of Magnarella and spent two years writing more than 50 songs in search of a defining sound for the next record.
In the summer of 2014, he entered the studio with Warren Huart (producer of The Fray, Augustana, Aerosmith, James Blunt, Howie Day) and began recording the 6 song EP "City Lights" due out in 2015.
