The Art of Geometry with Special Guest BARE

MashUp Contemporary Dance Company aids in furthering the appreciation of contemporary dance and the arts by exposing it’s audiences to multimedia dance performances with a unique movement style that fuses jazz, modern and hip hop, with a strong foundation in ballet technique. The performing arts community established by these performances as well as afterschool programs and other events play a crucial social role, using the beauty and humanity of dance to enrich all races, ages and backgrounds.

Tanya Aguiniga (Set Designer) is a Los Angeles based furniture designer/maker raised inTijuana, Mexico. Tanya’s work is informed by border experiences: the interconnectedness of societies, the beauty in struggle and the celebration of culture. She uses furniture as a way to translate emotions into a three dimensional objects and tell stories trough color and touch. Her work encourages users to reconsider the objects they use on a daily basis by creating work that explores an objects’ unseen aspect, such as half chairs that rely on the wall to function and whose image is only complete as its shadow is cast upon the wall.

BARE Dance Company (Guest Performers) was established by Artistic Director, Mike Esperanza in 2005 with the help of DanceUSA and the Irvine Foundation. Over the years, BARE's versitile approach to movement has been described by the dance community as poetic, visual and powerful.

With the help of artist Tanya Aguiniga, MashUp Contemporary Dance Company with special guest BARE presents their 5th full length production, The Art of Geometry. This captivating and unique show pushes the boundaries of dance, exposes the beauty of geometry, and taps into the human experience.
