The Soultans

The Soultans were born to keep the groove alive. If it's hard hitting funk, smooth soul, or groovy New Orleans music, this eclectic R&B band delivers the goods. The Soultans play classic funk and soul covers aimed at keeping the dance floor moving.

Formed in 2013 by a close group of friends, The Soultans have a relaxed feeling and a positive message: It's time to feel good! The band formed in 2013, in Portland Oregon, when drummer Talbott Guthrie began putting together his dream team of musicians. Fellow sound engineer and music fan, Jason Rappaport on bass, the "wizard" of keyboards, Andrew Deetz, Josh Peters on percussion, and well known Portland guitarist, Newell Briggs were his first choice of collaborators for this project.

The Soultans play songs to make people dance. Their material consists mostly of funk covers from the likes of The Meters, Sly & The Family Stone, and Curtis Mayfield, while also offering some smooth grooves borrowed from artists like Marvin Gaye and Allen Toussaint. Most of the band shares vocal duties and the occasional guest vocalist give some variety to the proceedings. Congas as bongos keep the groove going and add a extra slice of funk!
The Soultans are still developing and expanding their set list to include well-known funk favorites as well as some obscure gems and the occasional original composition. As they like to say it down south "Laissez le bon temps rouler!"

Planet Booty

Planet Booty emerged onto the West Coast music scene in 2009 in the form of an endorphin-fueled dance party machine. Ever since, their singular obsession with making asses shake has led the band to embrace styles ranging from classic Miami Bass, Talking Heads, and The JB’s, to the modern beats of Major Lazer, Chromeo, and Daft Punk.

With a lush array of live instruments coupled with electronic loops, infectious funk hooks, and a damn sexy sense of style, Planet Booty leaves all audience members sweat-soaked, electrified, and frantically trying to explain to their friends why this band with the ridiculous name really is worth checking out.

In between live performances the group has kept up a steady stream of self-produced, freely available online content. With their 2009 full length album “Planet Booty”, their 2012 EP “Success”, five music videos and dozens of overly ambitious promotional video shorts, they have been converting dedicated Booty followers in the Bay Area, along the west coast, and beyond.
