Trombone Maestro Frank Lacy

Trombone Maestro Frank Lacy

Frank Lacy hails from a family of great musicians: his father played guitar with Arnette Cobb, while his mother was an accomplished gospel artist. Growing up in a musical household he played piano, trumpet, and tuba before settling on the trombone.

A graduate of Berklee College of Music, he played with Greg Osby, Branford Marsalis, and Marvin Smith. Lacy's career has been filled with heavy weight collaborations including the like of Dizzy Gillespie, McCoy Tyner, Lester Bowie, and David Murray. Perhaps most notably, Lacy performed in the Mingus Big Band and was musical director for Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers.

Enjoy this powerful night of voluptuous tunes by the noted trombonist.
