Rob Robinson - Live in the Coffeehouse

Rob Robinson

Rob Robinson is based in Havre de Grace, MD located about twenty-five miles north of Baltimore and just sixty-five miles south of Philadelphia. Rob has been involved in music from the time he was nine years old as a drummer, percussionist, guitarist, singer and songwriter. He accomplished some amazing feats by the time he was just eighteen years old. Rob was a three-time national snare drumming champion in the prestigious arena known as Drum Corps International (DCI). During that time he became an endorsee for the Ludwig Drum Company. Rob's accomplishments in the world of drum corps are well documented and landed him a deserved place in the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame. In 1983, Rob began his work as a session drummer around Philadelphia and became one of Philly’s known drum guys. He helped to form the Buggy Boys in 1985 and would record and tour with Ben Vaughn in the late eighties and early nineties. During this time, as a member of Vaughn’s band, Rob had the opportunity to participate in festivals and shows throughout the United States and Europe sharing the stage with the likes of John Hiatt, Alex Chilton, Michelle Shocked, Jonathan Richmond and many more. Throughout the nineties, Rob continued to work with musicians and artists around the Philadelphia area, including Amy Carr & Suzanne Gorman. It was during this time that Rob tried to get more involved in his own songwriting. He recorded several volumes of music over a ten year period but never released anything. In 2008, after a period of time where addiction had its grip on him, Rob started a journey into recovery and from this point his songwriting began to take shape in a very unique way. Many of his songs speak of the troubles that face those with addiction issues and what it's like to face it and overcome it. In 2013 Rob has released his first CD titled “Catchin’ a Ride.” The music is strong, folk based rock with a groovy pop feel. His love of great singers over the years is evident on tracks like “Under the Sun” and in the powerful emotion of “Arizona.” The title track “Catchin’ a Ride” is a journey through fear and faith on a haunting midnight train ride along the cold winter railroad. The tracks are clean, well-produced and memorable. Rob is delivering some great music and live performances.
