The Hackensaw Boys

Beginning on the streets of Charlottesville, VA in 1999, the Hackensaw Boys achieved early success following their first cross country venture in a donated 1964 GMC bus nicknamed the “Dirty Bird.” On that tour, and the outings and albums that followed, the Hackensaws perfected their original, American roots inspired music that fuses vintage tones with modern sensibilities. Their efforts did not go unnoticed and the Hackensaws went on to tour and perform with a diverse roster of groups including Cake, The Flaming Lips, Trey Anastasio, The Black Crowes, Railroad Earth, Camper Van Beethoven and De La Soul. It’s been an exciting and strange journey. For instance, they are the only band that has both had a member poached by Modest Mouse and served as Country Music Hall of Fame member Charlie Louvin’s backing band! Currently the group plays hundreds of shows each year across the United States and Europe. Their newest album, Charismo was produced by the award winning team of Larry Campbell and Justin Guip whose inspirational work with artists like Bob Dylan and Levon Helm made them the perfect team to help the Hackensaws create their finest recordings to date. So, whether you are a longtime fan or new to Hackensaw music, you’ll find reason to celebrate Charismo and their next visit to your town.
