For the fall 2017 season, Columbia Ballet Collaborative welcomes Antonio Carmena, former soloist at New York City Ballet; Kelley Potter, Corps de Ballet Dancer with American Ballet Theater; Janice Rosario, NYC-based dancer and choreographer; Michelle Thompson Ulerich, recipient of Robert Faires’ Top 10 Classical Music/Dance Treasures of 2016 award; and Max Goldner, Columbia University student pursuing a B.A. in Urban Studies with a concentration in Architecture. We are also proud to present a restaging of Continuo, by the influential English ballet choreographer, teacher, and dancer Antony Tudor.
CBC is committed to enriching the arts in the Columbia community and providing a platform for the collaboration between professionals in the New York dance community and Columbia University students. In addition to producing two performances per year, CBC has the pleasure of bringing ballet to the local community and expanding the role of dance in public education through the Outreach Program. CBC is managed and directed by students, and its members have danced professionally with companies such as American Ballet Theater, Ballet West, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Houston Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, the National Ballet of Canada, New York City Ballet, North Carolina Dance Theatre, Orlando Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, and Tulsa Ballet. The New York Times writes, "New choreographic voices are rare in ballet, and the collaborative’s contribution in this respect has been vast already." CBC was featured in the August 2015 issue of Dance Spirit, the October/November 2013 issue of Pointe, the November 2013 issue of Dance Informa and the March 2013 issue of Dance Magazine. In the past, the company has also been featured in TimeOut NY as well as on VanityFair.com.
