SOULSHAKE with The Keplers and Midnight Honey

The Keplers

The Keplers are a Portland-based rhythm section hailing from Felony Flats. Their music is a spacey amalgamation of funk, hip-hop, and jazz in the vein of Herbie Hancock, MMW, Lonnie Smith, Jimmy Smith, and Emmitt Smith. Since its inception in the summer of 2011, the band has experienced divorce, fought addiction, and suffered the effects of a stagnant economy all while honing that spacey, funky sound that a few dozen people throughout the Pacific Northwest have come to cherish and enjoy. After many lineup changes the band has condensed down to the current trio with the occasional horn player floating over funky key melodies, punchy bass lines, and thundering drum beats that don’t skip……..ever.

Midnight Honey

Midnight Honey revitalizes the R&B-Soul genre with a riveting sound that’s sultry and distinctively their own. Up front are Shelly Rudolph and Bre Gregg, a pair of powerhouse singers who flaunt a wide palate of lush harmonies and an undeniable sister-like chemistry. With a tight knit four piece backing band highlighting electric guitar and lap steel, Midnight Honey is too sweet to turn down.
