Foxes (UK)

Sometimes the most rewarding discoveries are the ones that take you completely by surprise. Foxes is one of those discoveries. Arriving unheralded with her Neon Gold Records’ debut ‘Youth’ late last year, it wasn’t long before the song’s resplendent synths, industrial percussion and by-turns-searing-and-soaring vocal were the talk of the town.

Foxes is in actual fact just one – Louisa Rose Allen. The Southampton-born 22 year-old followed her big sister to London the day she turned 18. She tried her hand at studying music but dropped out when she realised it wasn’t the studying part that she enjoyed. With ‘Youth’ (and its mournful b-side ‘Home’, and resulting remixes) having so far garnered over a million combined Soundcloud and YouTube plays, and 1,250 Hypemachine ‘likes’ between them, it’s unlikely she’ll be heading back to class anytime soon.

Anya Kvitka

Anya Kvitka has found a whole new way to embrace musical schizophrenia in her music and at her live performances with her band the GetDown. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, the singer’s sound touches on everything from electronic, soul and funk to hip-hop, dub, reggae and jazz.

As a child growing up in Moscow, she began learning classical piano. Her family moved to the Bay Area when she was 7, where she continued her training. She attended UC–Santa Cruz, where she got her first taste of recognition as part of the a capella group “Acquire A Capella” in 2009.
Soon after graduating college, Anya ventured to Los Angeles with supporting artists Mathew Gonzalez and snack|BOT and with the help of L.A. based company/blog Knocksteady, they recorded a live video of her track "Runnin". On the day of its release, the video ranked on YouTube’s Top 100 list of favorited and viewed. Her follow up video for "Gone Baby Gone," produced by Hippie Sabotage and directed by Brandon Van Auken, was featured on blogs all over the world and has currently surpassed 20,000 views.
Anya and her band made it to CBS News’ coveted list as part of the Best Breakout Music Acts of 2012. Popular Bay Area newspaper, the Metro, voted Anya Kvitka for Best Singer/Songwriter and deemed her band the Best Band of Silicon Valley Sound eXperience of 2012. In December of 2012, Anya was invited to perform at the world-renowed TedTalks lecture series at LinkedIn in Mountain View, CA.
Now, with the release of her latest EP behind her, she aims to continue her musical endeavors and is currently creating a debut album while also generating an immense amount of interest from record labels. Anya Kvitka is extremely excited for what the future holds.
