Before there was Kool Keith, Old Dirty Bastard or 2 Live Crew - before there was hip hop, for that matter - there was Blowfly, performing X-rated songs with a funky groove. Born 60 years ago in Cochran, Georgia, Miami's Clarence Reid has recorded more than 40 albums during his illustrious career. He got his nickname as a child when his grandmother, after hearing him sing dirty versions of then popular songs - like "Suck My D**k" for "Do The Twist" - proclaimed, "You is nastier than a blowfly."

St. James and The Apostles

heavy psychedelic soul trio from Philadelphia, PA

St. James & The Apostles got together in 2010 after the demise of guitarist James Mahon's previous band. For this new endeavor, he enlisted his younger cousins; Mike Kiker on organ and Jeff Castner on drums. Their first 2 LPs "Baphomet" (2012) and "Via Dolorosa" (2014) were self-produced. In early 2016, they hooked up with legendary producer Joe "The Butcher" Nicolo (Billy Joel, The Fugees, Urge Overkill, Lauryn Hill) to craft their 3rd album, "White Devil". While they're fully capable of producing a rich tapestry of sound in the studio, it's their intense live shows that is their real calling card as a band. And they've been lucky enough to share the stage so far with the likes of Dean Ween, Nik Turner (Hawkwind), & Little Barrie (Better Call Saul).

$10. $12 at the Door.
