Graham Parsons & The Go Rounds

Graham Parsons & The Go Rounds

With years of writing, recording, and touring behind them, Kalamazoo band The Go Rounds are returning this summer with a new full-length album, Feathername, a 7” single, and an expansive tour featuring an orchestra of Michigan musicians.

Feathername, a follow up to the band’s 2011 self-titled debut album, is exploration into the most ambitious body of songs ever written by vocalist Graham Parsons. The songs come as a fully realized fusion of everything Parsons has toyed with for years as a staple of the Michigan music community: folk, art rock, country, and rock n’ roll. The recording sessions found the band expanding to include members of the Red Sea Pedestrians, Red Tail Ring, The Kalamazoo Brass Collective, Elk Welcome, and Birdfingers, as well as studio heavyweights including Drew Howard, Ben Lau, Fiona Dickinson, Sam Cooper, and students from the WMU Jazz Program.

Far from the psychedelic rock and soul of their previous records, The Go Rounds have created an intricate and beautiful collection of recordings that amplify the pristine glow of the Great Lakes State. In addition, the band will be a releasing a 7” single recorded at the height of their 5-piece madness in August 2012.

This summer will mark the culmination of the project when The Go Rounds embark on a select run of Michigan performances featuring a huge orchestra. The live ensemble is rooted in the Kalamazoo music collective Double Phelix: a tight knit group of multi-instrumentalists who have honed their chops as a creative recording unit. The band will include horns, strings, multiple drummers, keyboards players, and the glorious harmonies of some of the finest singers you’ve never heard of.
