David Rosenbloom Trio
DRT is a world fusion jazz trio, creating a sonic tapestry marked by rhythmic and textural inventiveness. Traces of Indian, Middle Eastern, Irish and Asian influences mix with the fusion trio format of guitar, bass and drums. Perfoming original instrumentals and imaginative reworkings of jazz, rock and pop tunes, the trio’s repertoire includes selections as diverse as Caravan, My Favorite Things, Blue Jay Way, Bus Stop, It Ain’t Necessarily So, Things We Said Today, Pretty Ballerina and Pather Panchali. The Trio performed extensively in NYC and in Europe in its original incarnation; the current individual members - David Rosenbloom on guitar, David Hofstra alternating with Mark Hagan on bass, and Steve Moses alternating with Ray Levier on percussion - have been active in an extraordinarily broad range of musical undertakings, both local and worldwide.
Anita P is an up-and-coming Jazz and R&B artist who is blazing her way on to the NYC scene. Showcasing her powerful vocal range, Anita combines a wonderful mix of originals and covers into her intimate set. Originally from Augusta, GA, she has a seasoned, unparalleled sound that blends the soul of a Gospel influenced Bible-belt southern charm, with the heart from a legacy of Jazz greats such as Lena Horne, Billie Holiday, and Nina Simone.
As an artist, Anita has performed with the Davidson GRAMMY Ensemble Sponsored by the Recording Academy, Governor’s Honors Program Jazz Band, Augusta Chorale, Creative Impressions Performing Arts Group, and Columbus State University Orpheus Ball Orchestra. She is taking NYC by storm one gig at a time!
The Mad Sugars
Take the dance rock of Franz Ferdinand, the garage grooves of OK Go, the harmonic sensibilities of 60's BritPop -- mix them up in a blender and you have a decadently sweet concoction that would best describe The Mad Sugars.
Growing up in a household filled to the brim with rock and roll from the 60's and 70's, it's only appropriate that frontman Adam Gruss took influence from the bands listed above. Taking up the drums at age 8 and learning the entire Beatles repertoire, Adam was hungry to play in bands from the time he was in junior high, and had an active hand in each band's songwriting process. After appearances at Warped Tour, South by Southwest and CMJ, Adam traded the drum set for a guitar and began writing on his own accord.
Releasing "Save Your Breath / Scene of the Crime" in May 2012, listeners got a preview of the power pop-tinged tunes that marked The Mad Sugars' earliest days. After completing a lineup for live shows in the Fall, Adam began to hone the band's sound to be more gritty and energetic, doing away with the relationship woes documented in earlier songs and opting for stories of the nightlife misadventures of the 20-something male instead. The band's first official EP "Just a Taste," released [date] is just that: a taste of things to come.
Based in Northern New Jersey, currently The Mad Sugars are playing around the New York/New Jersey area promoting their debut EP, offering audiences more than just a taste in their live shows. After seeing them live, don't be surprised if you'll want to come back for seconds.
