It all started, when Doctor Dru was a little boy treating his mothers pots and pans with his drumsticks. Dru s youth was about three things: hitting the snare, skateboarding and funk & soul music. He soon started drumming professionally throughout Europe supporting guys like R.Kelly in sold out concert halls.A crash with his skateboard changed everything. “I couldn ́t play t he drums wit h my broken arms anymore, but I was still able to tweak a mixer.” Doctor Dru fell in love with an atari and a drummachine and started improving his production skills. His older sister forced him to spin vinyl at her numerous parties. The clubs liked that, too. Then he quit doing that for a while to begin an experimental phase of sound soul searching. He was producing and writing for a wide variety of artists e.g. Bootsy Collins, one of his heroes. But the 4 to the floor never let him go. He felt, he had some grooves to tell and got back into house music. In 2010 he found some like-minded guys out of the Baalsaal, Hamburg and founded the label JEUDI Records. Now in 2011 after ghostproducing for other DJ ́s, he came out with his own stuff. His debut EP "Ooh Gosh!" was sitting in the Top 5 of the dancecharts for weeks. He also was the mastermind behind the slow house edit "Juicy Fruit" which was a summerhit in 2011 and a great success for the new sublabel Blackjuke Box by EXPLOITED. His latest production, the "Anymore" EP" in collabo with his buddies Adana T wins is out now on BAALSAAL records. It has already a huge feedback in the scene. So we are curious what is coming up next. House is the playground and the pulse keeping it together is his destiny. Listen!

Born and raised in the San Francisco, Bay Area, Ca. Papa Lu had the chance to absorb all styles of music from Hip Hop to house as an adolescent. His first passion was with Hip Hop. As soon as he graduated from High School he dove right into the business of throwing Hip Hop shows at a venue called The DNA Lounge. He worked with some of the most classic artists of the true school era like Digable Planets, Digital Underground, Gang Starr, Kool Keith, Dj QBert, Grand Wizord Theordore, and many more. During that time period several house music pioneers like Mark Farina, Derrick Carter, Dj Sneak, Heather, Colette, etc were making their waves at that same venue and that’s where Papa Lu had learned to love house music. Becoming a house music aficionado Papa Lu had then decided to make the transition into producing quality house music events. He still to this day produces a party named Night Moves at Monarch SF and other events as well at a few of the other fine established clubs of San Francisco. He’s worked with artists such as Danny Daze, Jimmy Edgar, Dennis Ferrer, Poolside, Amine Edge & Dance, Doctor Dru, Walker & Royce, Lazaro Casanova, Claptone, Juan MacLean, Fur Coat, Crazy P, Noir, Moon Boots, John Tejada, J Boogie, Deejay Theory, Pacific Disco, etc. In the process of becoming deeply involved and passionate with finding new cutting edge artists to book Papa Lu cultivated himself as a quality dj opening and closing for the artists named above and is now a commonly known dj in SF's house scene. For Papa Lu, his career as an innovative house dj has recently started and is budding well. His production with Bryan Boogie (LifeSF/ 2nd Sunday) is in progress and is anticipated to gain solid traction.
