The Bubble Music Festival

The Bubble Music Festival

This festival, at its core, is about music. It’s curated by musicians and music lovers with the express purpose of promoting emerging artists, local and regional bands, and celebrating music in general. It’s by music lovers, for music lovers.

Thomas Skibsrud and Eric Geane met in late 2010 and became fast friends over a game of pool and many beers. They eventually decided to try and make music together and started to mess around in Thomas's basement just jamming simple blues riffs and heavy beats. They eventually decided to start a band and instead of forming a typical modern 12-person blues band, they wanted to stick to blues music's traditional roots. When they play they want you to hear them and just them and not be buried behind horns and three layers of guitars. They are not a jam band and not a jazz band so don't ask them to play something in the key of E. By playing from the heart, they play true blues music, and this is the way it should be.

Oedipus Tex

Eric Caldera’s instrumental post-rock band El Valiente has garnered him the most attention in Madison, but his quieter solo project, Oedipus Tex, has been around much longer. Besides that, it gives Caldera a chance to write lyrics and sing, which winds up being the focus on his new release, Borracho Corazon. Not to say that his intricate finger-picking style doesn’t initially pull listeners in, but it’s Caldera’s cracking voice that engrains songs like “Leave Room” with a sense of loneliness and makes you jump a bit when he delivers lines like “I’m coming out your fucking stereo” on “Yonder.” Though, it’s his friends and bandmates who lift the last track, “Firefly,” to its breathtakingly rocking close. -The Onion/AV Club-

Boo Bradley

Boo Bradley is good time two-man Hokum junk and jive orchestra who are as fun to watch as they are to listen to. Meeting up in 2007, Boo Mullarky and Bradley Selz took to Madison, Wisconsin's illustrious State Street with the full intention of bringing the rollicking sounds and antics of the early 20th century jug bands back to life. They quickly became known as the go-to act for fun in the sun at Madison's legendary farmers' market. Soon they were being asked to perform at festivals and shows around the state, sharing the stage with well-known roots performers such as the Carolina Chocolate Drops and Spider John Koerner . Between the two of them, this refreshing “little jug band that could” features a delightfully rich and clunky sonic pallet that is sure to cure whatever ails ya!

Hue is the irreverent and ass-kicking original rock and roll band from Madison, WI.

The Daze

The Daze is a four-piece rock group comprised of Gabe Burdulis on guitar and vocals, Alex Blair on guitar, Tom Thurlow on drums, and Christian Rasmussen on bass. Started in the winter of 2010, the band has evolved to play all types of music, and has played venues including the High Noon Saloon, Brink Lounge, The Frequency, The Loft, Bratfest and in the summer of 2012, played Summerfest three times. They also won the 2012 Launchpad Competition and were winners of 4 MAMA's at the 2012 MAMA's Award Show. They are looking forward to expanding their music and playing together for a long time!
