That Damn Sasquatch
That Damn Sasquatch is comprised of musicians with a variety of musical interests and instrumentation, allowing the band to cross genres of music including and not limited to bluegrass, country, blues, cajun/zydeco, and jazz. With a balanced, progressive, and traditional approach their sound is truly their own. .
Blue Grama is a hot bluegrass band out of Ft. Collins, Colorado. Taking their name from the long-lived, warm season, native Colorado grass, Blue Grama blends the sound of the Appalachian hills with the high plains of the Rockies. Just as the grass roots hold tight to the soil, Blue Grama is deeply rooted in bluegrass tradition, inspired by greats like Bill Monroe, Earl Scruggs, and Del McCoury Band. The band has developed an innovative and unique sound that breaks new ground while still incorporating many elements of traditional folk music. Blue Grama's repertoire includes a suite of original songs, well as bluegrass standards and "grassy" cover tunes. The members of Blue Grama share a passion for music, taking every opportunity to feed their bluegrass habit, and share their music with others. The group has an onstage chemistry which is contagiously fun and energetic, and they love connecting with their fans.
Whether it's in front of thousands of festivarians, hundreds of friendly bar dancers, dozens of fellow pickers, or each other in the studio, Oakhurst leaves it all on the field. This quintet brings their stories to the stage in the form of pure energy and passion for acoustic music. With gifted percussion and a driving low end, the banjo, guitar, fiddle and vocals have all the space they need to tell you a story. Love, life, loss, and whiskey are likely to be the topic of the day- come on and jump in the get down for a spell.... The band spikes traditional bluegrass with rock & roll and a kamikaze rhythmic sensibility. That danceable concoction along with stringed shootouts, ringing harmonies, and citybilly swagger keeps the band in high demand. Oakhurst’s unpretentious, go-for-it interpretation of a genre that's roots are often handled reverently, sparks interest in bluegrass by folks who don’t know Doc Watson from Doc Holliday.
