Tribute Band Night with Mt. Hammer, Message of Love, and Riff Raff

Mt. Hammer

San Francisco duo MtHammer tangles with opposites: half drums, half guitar; half blues, half grunge; half epic, half garage; half philosophical, half nonsensical. We are two southern musicians (Texas and Alabama) who blend the soulfulness of blues-men like R.L. Burnside and Son House, the progressive intuition of bands like QOTSA and Jimi Hendrix, and our own brand of homebrewed nonsense rock. Imagine what Nirvana would have sounded like if they'd ever gotten lost in the piney woods of the southern states. We pull all this together to make a bigger, more unexpected sound with two people than most bands achieve with four or more.
2012 saw us gigging all over the Bay Area: Red Devil Lounge, El Rio, Stork Club, and The Blue Lamp in Sacramento, to name a few. In 2013 we turned our focus to recording, completing our first EP, Dionysus, at Louder Studios with SF tape-only legend Tim Green. Dionysus is currently in print and will be available online and at Aquarius Records. Currently, we are recording additional material to round out a full album, including "Asleep Beneath the Stars," an 11-minute psychedelic metal blues opus.

The shamelessly eccentric Houston-born rapper and pop culture icon, Riff Raff, will join the ranks of Bonde do Role, Bosco Delrey, Po Po, Dillon Francis, Rusko, Maluca, Zebra Katz and head honcho, Diplo as the newest artist to sign to Mad Decent! After climbing up the media ranks, Riff Raff is gearing up to record material for Mad Decent for his highly anticipated 2013 studio album debut. His incomparable drawl and massive viral presence have led to standout collaborations with Soulja Boy, Kid Sister, Chief Keef, Action Bronson and most recently Kitty Pryde.

As a young girl vocalist JoJo Razor sang her favorite tunes by The Beatles and Petula Clark for neighbors in her apartment complex. By the 80’s, JoJo was a working pro, performing nightly with Crazy Leggs, Off the Wall, and Hidden Secrets. In early 2013, JoJo played the Great American Music Hall with the The Yes Fragile Project, while digging deep into the Chrissie Hynde songbook for MOL.

Chris Planas:

For founding members/Bassist Larry Kelsey, MOL has been a labor of love. A San Diego native, Larry was deeply influenced by the best music of the 60’s – the rave up sounds of the British Invasion as well as the dancefloor grooves of Stax and Motown. The finest surfer in all of Mexico he loves their beer and their food.
