The full band offically started in January 2013, but Felix and Brody started the project a year or so before. We are a group of serious musicians looking to play as many shows and meet up with as many bands as possible along the way. Oranguhtango lives in Marin and Sonoma counties but will travel wherever we are desired. We are in the process of recording our first offical EP! It will be available online ASAP!!!
The Scrapers are currently composed of myself, Tony Eastus, Adam Kelly, Rachel Jordan, Nathaniel Zack and Zean Parez-Travers. We all have been playing in bands for years now. We formed out of a love for sixties rock and roll as well as folk and blues and lots of other rad stuff. We love art in all forms and try to keep culture alive by putting on art shows and performing at bars and parties and anywhere else we can.
One hot August Day in the year twelve of the new Millennium, The Antiquaters were born in a garage in Santa Rosa CA.
It had all started with Craigs List postings and a lot of patience. Not the kind of CL postings that involve suspicious free couches or dubious cuddle parties mind you but the honest and totally rare encounters that actually have happy endings.
John and Ben had many a phone calls and emails back and forth (and one removed appendix) before actually meeting and playing. But then the day came, and what a day it was! The Antiquaters were born! With in a week they were joined by talented beat man Dave Hensley (Drums) and long time friend Logan Kelly (Bass Guitar).
In the weeks that followed a splendiferious cornucopia of music styles began to blend like a cosmic goulash into the sweet sound know as The Antiquaters. With the addition of Magic Man Andrew on Guit Box, (Lead Guitar) the line up became an all star cast of talent.
Life experiences, Heart Break, Eternal Love, Reaganomics, Parenting advice, Its all there in the lyrics. The Antiquaters leave no stone unturned. They strive to stay faithful to traditional roots and compose new songs that folks can groove too. You Know, have a few drinks and really shake a tail feather.
One Person described the Antiquaters as "The most amazing blend of Ska, Reggae and Funk the Universe has ever seen." Another said " The best looking Band since KISS". Both of these statements have been verified as 100% accurate.
With one eye on the Stars and One foot planted on the ground the Antiquaters look to make music that moves people to Relax, Dance, and Have a great time! (in that order)
Look out For Some Sonoma County Shows coming in the New Year!
