Darryl Purpose

Darryl Purpose

Darryl Purpose is an American singer-songwriter, known for his narrative lyrics and impressive fingerstyle guitar. Purpose came to songwriting with an unusually diverse and eclectic life history that includes being a professional gambler (he is one of a few gamblers inducted into the Blackjack Hall Of Fame) and peace activist (he walked across the USA in 1986 with the Great Peace March) His songs are drawn from these life experiences. We are looking forward to new stories from his life in Colorado in the new songs in 2011.

"Story-songs with a whirling fiddle, acoustic guitars and fun, multi-percussive accompaniment. Touching reminiscences from a gravelly voiced guy who writes momentum-gathering choruses like the Boss used to do."

From 1996 through 2004 he played 150 shows a year, headlining McCabes in Santa Monica CA; The Kennedy Center, in Washington DC and The Freight & Salvage in Berkeley, among others. He released 6 CD's and 1 DVD in that period.
