Duenday (pronounced Dwen-day) is a Twin Cities hip-hop group consisting of the rapper/producers Initial MC and In2Wishin and DJ Gabe Garcia. Formed in 2005 in South Minneapolis, Duenday has made a name for themselves in the past few years performing around the Midwest and appearing at numerous summer music festivals such as Soundset 2011, Bella Music Fest, Prairie Grass, and New Autumn. Duenday released their first full-length album in November 2010 to local critical acclaim, and has become well known in the Twin Cities for their energetic and often wild live shows. Opening for such acts as Pac Div, Ok Go, Prof, DJ Abilities and More Than Lights, Duenday continues to build momentum and influence in the hip-hop scene. The Uniphonics have created waves of excitement across the United States since forming out of the Iowa City music scene in 2007. Their jam band approach to hip hop has led them to performances at countless major festivals and venues across the country. They've played on bills with some of their biggest influences, including George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Rusted Root, Karl Denson, The Roots, and Primus.
The band released an EP in 2009 called "Truth Be Told." The album received positive reviews and built anticipation for "Crawl," their full length album which was released in September 2010. "Crawl" has received raving 5 star reviews. It features several songs with Robin Eubanks, a multiple grammy award winning musician who is widely considered to be the premier trombonist of his generartion. The album also features guitarist Dennis "Daddy-O" McMurrin, who is known for his work with George Clinton, Sly and the Family Stone, and Tower of Power. A Minneapolis based vocal phenom named Heatbox also appears on the album.
The Uniphonics tour relentlessly in support of their 2 releases. They have built a large base of fans who love the positivity and musicality that they bring to every live performance.
Drawing from deep under the covers of upbeat and rollicking grooves, The Premiums supply all the thick foundations, spacey, dub-inflected echoes, and memorable melodies that your body can handle. Whether you like moving your hips on the dance floor, rocking your body while running, or mulling over the music in your mind, you won't be able to deny the pleasing sensations caused by the vibrations o
f The Premiums' music.
Four funky lads from Wisconsin moved to Minneapolis, MN in 2011 in search of groovy vibes and musical enlightenment. Riding in on their trusty steed, an RV called "The Groove Thang", the boys found a welcome home in the Twin Cities. Their mission: to bring their high-energy sound to funky folks who love to get down.
The Level Heads
The Level Heads are not your average MC-Producer duo. The relationship between Lokes and Lipset was forged in the creative fires of their musical synergy. It wasn't until Lipset pushed Lokes to complete the Level Heads LP with him that Lokes seriously considered music as a career choice. Similarly, it was over Lokes' beats that Lipset found his true voice and style as an MC. As a result, their musical paths have been linked indefinitely.
The Level Heads music is characterized by Lipset's mid-western hip hop and spoken word roots coming together over Lokes' west-coast, island reggae and R&B roots to create a sound that has never been heard before. This style came to a point on The Level Heads LP, which was released to regional acclaim in November 2010. With one album now under their belt, Current Affairs: The Alien Project, The Level Heads are turning their creative focus to the ongoing, Heads UP: Digital Music Series, which features a new artist on a new song from The Level Heads during the first week of every month.
