The Moms are a dynamic power trio from New Jersey who pride themselves on a hook-laden sound and an energetic live set. With what started as sporadic shows in New Brunswick basements, The Moms have now committed to a nation-wide touring schedule. Joey Nester (Guitar/vocals) comments, “We play shows coast to coast in bars and basements, yelling satirical lyrics to anybody willing to listen.”
The Moms recorded their first four song EP, "Viva!" in December of 2011 at Silent Owl Studios with John Collura of The Ataris. The record was later released on Panic State Records on 7" Vinyl. Jon Stolpe(Bass/Vocals) states, “The tracks are a couple of the original tunes we wrote in Joeys Bedroom during the 2011 year. We were all dying to groove but in a nasty way and Viva! is the product of it.”
The much anticipated full length record "Keep Buying American" can be expected in October of 2013 through Paper + Plastick with a full national tour to support it. Donny Saraceno (Drums) on the record, “The record is our platform to help you experience what The Moms are all about. There is nothing else like it, but it IS an American Rock and Roll album.”
Catch The Moms in a city near you. You will not regret it.
the Blackout Summer
Blackout Summer began as a Craig's List meeting between Gianni Vitale, MU student, and Steven Reifsteck, Columbia local, at a Subway in downtown Columbia. After hearing two demos Vitale had tracked on his independently with Evan Cottrel, Reifsteck decided to put his folk project on hold to return to his roots in pop-punk. The name Blackout Summer was created by combining previous member Grant Peters' suggestion of Summer Heat and Vitale's suggestion of Last Night's Blackout, with the naming process transforming the act from Vitale's autocratic solo project to a democratic band instead. Since then, three new members have been added: Mike Klein, longtime friends with Reifsteck; Dean Wilsbacher, MU student who was also discovered on Craig's List; and Rob Kaltenbach, a.k.a. DJ M3ow Mix. The group has created a cult following with Columbia natives as well as locals in Saint Louis. Currently, they look to expand their library of original tunes, track a full EP, and save money for the Winter tour, all while juggling school, work, and an assload of debts. Though very busy, Blackout Summer is never discouraged, and with good friends and fans alike, it is not hard to believe they will be going places in the near future.
