Oblivians are Jack Yarber (who released Rat City under his pseudonymJack Oblivian in 2011), Eric Friedl (the founder of Goner Records), and Greg Cartwright (the frontman of Reigning Sound). They recorded Desperation at Dan Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound studio in Nashville. It also features the New Orleans duo Mr. Quintron and Miss Pussycat on "Call the Police".

Wyldlife is a group of 4 young men who enjoy girls, alcohol, motorcycle culture, knives, leather jackets and rock and roll. Their new self-titled debut LP is for those who like their garage/punk rock both loud and fast as well as sweet, in the vein of the Ramones, The Undertones, The Only Ones, The New York Dolls, etc... Drinks are on you, right? OK, good.

The Shangri Lips

You may remember front-woman Margaret Garrett from Boston’s legendary MR. AIRPLANE MAN, and if you do, you’re probably psyched that she’s got a new thing going. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Well, if you’re into super stripped down bluesy garage songs, don’t let this band pass you by. Influences range from The Velvet Underground and Bo Diddly, THE SHANGRI LIPS have crafted their own style of “one chord blues, three chord rock”. They hail from Northampton, Massachusetts but there’s zero Thurston Moore worship here, this is only rock n roll and I like it. Apparently THE OBLIVIANS like it too, THE SHANGRI LIPS are opening for them in Philadelphia and New York on October 3rd and 4th. Head over to their bandcamp, where you can preorder a 3 song 7″ of songs recorded by Thompson-King, with that you also get an instant download of all 8 songs from the session, and also a limited BANDITAS 7″.
