"The Districts are an impressive young four-piece from Lititz, in Lancaster County. The band channeled the rock-and-soul vibe of Cold War Kids and Spoon; singer Rob Grote’s searing voice cut across the concert hall, blending with the band’s smartly-arranged instrumental interplay. They do the very Pixies loud-quiet-LOUD thing, but in a more textured way than simply turning their overdrive pedals on and off. A thundering swell cuts, leaving a clean guitar arpeggio floating in space as Grote catches his breath; the verses build in waves, with the heaviness sometimes derived just from Braden Lawrence’s drums. Grote is an intense, emphatic, occasionally bewildering stage presence – he kicks, stomps and snarls, both at the mic and far away – but guitarist Mark Larson and bassist Connor Jacobus hold their own, shuffling and bobbing and giving the overall band a dynamic stage presence." -John Vettese, of WXPN The Key
Coronado is a 5 piece "true" rock/blues band from Pittsburgh, PA whose meaningful lyrical and vocal abilities blend with dueling melodic guitars and a solid backline of Rhoads/Hammond organ, bass and drums. One of the rising stars of the Pittsburgh scene, the band has started touring in the spring of 2012 selling out two shows in Chicago, IL. and releasing it's second full-length album "Past Present Future" in July of 2012 during a series of residency shows and met with positive reviews.
Rosu Lup is a folk/indie quartet from the Philadelphia suburbs. The band started working on a small collection of recordings in the fall of 2012, the bulk of the tracks were recorded in the confines of a second story apartment in the suburbs. These recordings were heavily influenced by nature, relationships and hope. In November the Woodland EP was released on Bandcamp, while a small number of hardcopies were created to give out to friends and family.
While the rich harmonies and warm guitar tones have listeners likening them to other flannel wearing, bearded, acoustic guitar toting folk musicians- there's an undeniable difference in the writing style and honest lyrical approach Rosu Lup takes.
Having begun to play several shows since the release of Woodland, the band has successfully developed a live set that's as grand as the snow-capped mountains they sing about. With plans to head into Miner Street Recordings in Fishtown later this month to record their second EP, their goal is to play extensively throughout the year, while writing and recording new music as they go.
Born among the pitch pines of southern New Jersey, Pine Barons is a brotherhood of four artists aiming to fulfill their rock n’ roll destinies and their role among the stars. With a wide spectrum of influences, from classic rock to folk, jazz, and punk, Pine Barons is an amalgamation of four personalities and visions whose friendship and respect shape their craft. After many half-magical high fives, this troupe of ultra-pals have scribed their plans to spread their music to the thinkers, friends, lovers, and magicians of the world and combat forces of malice.
“Their clever, playful name got our attention, and their snappy music held it.”
