Voss is the most unique, hardworking and versatile rapper you might not have heard of…yet. Hailing from the greater Philadelphia area, he’s often been called a “veteran in a rookie’s body” for good reason. With a witty, forward-thinking lyrical style, boundless charisma, an energetic, engaging live show and of course, an unbreakable work ethic, there’s no denying the young emcee’s talent and drive. He has shared the stage with such diverse acts as Mac Miller, ?uestlove, Cam’ron, Pusha T, El-P, Talib Kweli, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Action Bronson, Chris Webby, Dom Kennedy, Astronautalis, Wax, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon and many more. In addition, Voss is not afraid to apply his skills on the lyrical battlefield, as he is a BET 106 & Park Freestyle Friday hall of famer, racking up 5 wins in a row, as well as the first Philly Rhyme Calisthenics champion. Armed with honesty, raw talent and an unmatched tenacity to spread his words to all who will listen, anyone with an open heart and mind can not help but support Voss.
Born on December 31st, 1987, in Livingston, New Jersey, Taizu is the first generation South Asian American in his family. He is the son of two middle class immigrants that escaped their homeland to seek of financial prosperity in the late 70s. Heavily influenced by Asian cultures with the combination of his American upbringing help differentiate Taizu's style and vocal versatility. His spiritual delivery and sage like presence has become the core of his cult following. The 25 year old rising talent with influences from Big Pun, Lil Wayne, and Big Daddy Kane is known for his witty mantra's and blatant disregard for social norms. "Obstacles are only stepping stones to victory." Taizu is focused on breaking social barriers through his music and sharing his unique philosophy of collective awareness with the rest of the world.
Skrewtape is one of the most determined and distinctive emcees to date. His music has been described as "streetwise with a deep side", merging the golden era sound with new age thoughts and ideas. Emerging from South Jersey, Skrewtape has shared stages with world-renowned rap icons Ghostface Killah (Wu-Tang Clan), Raekwon (Wu-Tang Clan), and Cam'ron (Diplomats), as well as underground hip hop legends Shabaam Sahdeeq, El Da Sensei (Artifacts), C-Rayz Walz, Jakk Frost, Wax, and Reef the Lost Cauze. His passion for performing, and his ability to personally connect with fans during his live shows, has helped him to gain increasing recognition throughout the Delaware Valley, namely the burgeoning Philadelphia underground hip-hop scene.
Skrewtape's "Skumbag Millionaires" pays homage to the mixtapes and compilations he grew up listening to (i.e. Soundbombing, Lyricists Lounge and Fat Beats) and features some of those same artists, along with others, both established and up-and-coming. With productions by Mr. Green, known for his "Live From The Streets" web series (Noisey/Vice), the album hosts veteran emcees like Pace Won, Young Zee, Tame One, Copywrite, Thirstin Howl III, C-Rayz Walz, Shabaam Sahdeeq, Milkbone, and Reef the Lost Cauze. The project also includes some rising stars such as Apollo The Great, Rich Quick and Voss to name a few. Skrewtape has collaborated with some of his greatest influences on this LP, and even those considered pioneers in the world of hip-hop music. Skumbag Millionaires will hit the streets in July and will be available via Skrewtape's Bandcamp (http://skrewtape.bandcamp.com) A follow up to Skumbag Millionaires is also in the works with a planned release through Philadelphia via North Carolina label, BIMMG, who carries distribution through Bungalo Records/Universal Music Group
