A Tribute to Elliott Smith
Inspired by the No Name concerts this summer across the country, World Cafe Live and Tri State Indie are joining together to present a tribute to the music of singer and songwriter Elliott Smith.
Proceeds will benefit Horizon House, a resource in the West Philadelphia community to adults with psychiatric or developmental disabilities, drug and alcohol addictions, and/or homelessness by providing a continuum of services and supports and community resource coordination. http://www.hhinc.org/
Ticketbuyers are also encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to benefit Philabundance. https://www.philabundance.org/
Artists to be announced.
Angel Ocana is a singer songwriter from Brooklyn, NY who now resides in Philadelphia, PA. Ocanas live performances are intimate and enchanting with delicate and soulful vocal melodies. His songs transport you into his intimate reflections of life, love and everything that comes with it.
Burned Out Still Glowing
Guitar driven indie/alt rock with emotion filled vocals and harmonies.
At a recent performance, DJ Brown, aka Our Griffins, quietly spoke to the audience saying, "I'm only talking as a favor to my friends." It was nice to hear the twenty year old singer/songwriter speak, but there really was no need. The delicate turn of phrase, and ringing chords of his songs, already had his listeners in a temporary state of receptive grace.
Matt Chylak is a young singer-songwriter from West Philadelphia. His music exists somewhere on a spectrum between folk songs that aren’t afraid to be catchy and pop songs that aren’t afraid to be honest.
He’s honed his sound in bars, small clubs, and street corners—these are the places where it often resonates best. A poet at heart, words tumble out of his songs like light percussion, telling the same stories that music has always told in his own unique voice. He currently sells collections of his poetry at shows in lieu of recorded material.
For the last few years, he’s been working on a set of heartfelt and oddly boisterous songs for his next album, which is currently titled If You’d Call This Place Home (though to be candid, it changes about once a week). He sincerely hopes you enjoy listening to him play, because it’s his second favorite thing in the world to do.
Having performed in the Philadelphia region since 2008, Jonah Delso continues to stay active in writing and releasing music nested in pop roots and nostalgic, soulful lyrics. He has provided his music as the score to several nation-touring indie films, including "Aboard The Carousel" and "Exit 117." Jonah continues to write/perform solo and with the Philly indie rock group Goodnight Lights (www.goodnight-lights.com).
Jonah recently released his second full length solo album Believe In The Mountain, available at www.jonahdelso.com
