In an oversaturated market with everyone vying to be the "ext to blow", the story of 22-year old DMV native De'Ko (born KoKou meaning Wednesday) is a refreshing exception to the overnight celebrity road to success. The first artist hailing from the Live Legendary camp has distinguished himself through a hard-work approach to the game-no small feat considering he's performed with a few hip-hop notables already.
Inspired by the rawness of 90's hip-hop, the art of storytelling, and dope beats De'Ko is on a mission to bring the essence of good music back. A music enthusiast, De'ko is influenced by an array of styles from poetry to jazz. With parents from West Africa (Togo) De'Ko was exposed to a rich culture early in life. Infusing his culture into the music makes for an energized performance and a unique sound that stands outs from the crowd.
De'Ko moved to Philadelphia to study fashion marketing at The Art Institute of Philadelphia. This would lead to a chance meeting of producer Garnett Hayes (Geez Seven).one of the co-founders of Live Legendary. This meeting catapulted De'Ko's love for music and really started him thinking about his talents and where it could take him. De'Ko began setting his poetry to music and honing his style. As he listened and really studied his craft he took that energy and really began to attack the craft like a 9-5 job. De'Ko rhymes took a life of its own and partnering it with the production of Geez made for magic in the studio.
De'Ko was later featured on the EP, The Dream Sequence receiving solid reviews from several noted hip-hop blogs. With the momentum of decent reviews De'Ko is dropped the video 'All Black Everything"ft. Finesse co-founder of Live Legendary. De'Ko is preparing his EP Four Holes To a Button along with the Live Legendary compilation mix-tape slated for release Spring 2013.
