Chet Samuel and The Zionites Band

Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico to immigrant parents, Chet Samuel grew up in a house filled with music. Chet’s first influence was his father Louis (Pidgeon) Samuel, a Caribbean folk singer from the islands of St Kitts & Nevis who migrated to Puerto Rico in the late 50’s early 60’s and played the hotel and night club circuit. Chet started his singing carrier at the Basseterre Boy School Choir, when he was sent to St kitts at the age of four to get acquainted with his west indian roots. Inspired by years of listening to the radio with his mother Juanita Jenkins to artists like Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder, Chet later migrated to the United States in 1989 and made music his career. Chet soon joined the band Addis Now, who won the Central Florida Jammy award for Best Reggae Band and a few years later went on to join Exodus, who won the Jammy award for Best Reggae Band in 1992 and 1993. After a name change from Exodus to 506CREW, Chet went on to dominate venues like House of Blues, Disney’s Pleasure Island, Bob Marley’s at Universal Studios Citywalk, The Edge, JJ Whispers, The Mill, Jamaican Me Crazy and Ginger Bay’s. Chet also co-wrote albums with the 506CREW such as Let’s Sit Down and Talk it Over, JAH Love, and Many Moods. In 2007, Chet went on to join the Grammy award winning artist Burning Spear’s band Young Lions, where they have been traveling internationally up until today. Now Chet has embarked on his first solo project Say My Name where he blends some of the Island rhythms with R&B. Chet has enlisted the help of some of the best producers and musicians in the industry like Sly Dunbar, Robbie Lynn, Stephen Stewart, Danny (Axe Man) Thompson, Rohan (Riffle Road) Reid, Howard (Rex) Smith, Dave Richards, Noel (Clampa) Aikens, Tony (T) Blair, Noel (Rev) Blair to mention a few. Say My Name has been described as “a pleasure from start to finish” by The Beat Magazine. In this body of work Chet, who has been compared to Maxi Priest, Beres Hammond, and Luciano, is romantic in songs like I’m Coming Home, All Caught Up, and Nobody But You. He is rootsy on songs like Remember Marcus Garvey, Never Easy, and Where Did The Loving Go. Chet is now embarking on a publicity tour promoting Say My Name where he will be showcasing songs from his critically acclaimed album.

Look forward to seeing Chet Samuel’s show “Niceness” at a venue near you!
