Big Mike's Kingsized Trio

Big Mike's Kingsized Trio

Big Mike Geier is one of Atlanta’s biggest entertainers, and we’re not just referring to his 6’8” stature. As leader of the band Kingsized, Geier has become known for his hugely popular Elvis Royale shows and the annual Holiday Jubilee at the Variety Playhouse. Geier is also a well-respected player on the local Jazz/Swing scene, his rich baritone influenced by the vocal stylings of Joe Williams, Tony Bennett, Oscar Brown, Jr. and Sinatra. Over the years, his Kingsized Jazz Combo has performed at Woodruff’s Montreux Jazz Fest, the Atlanta Lindy Exchange, Churchill Grounds, Ray’s on the River and countless downtown dives and hotel bars. Geier has also enjoyed several appearances as guest crooner with Joe Gransden’s Big Band.

In addition to his career as band leader and front man, Geier has since expanded into musical theatre, performing as principal in Seattle’s Teatro ZinZanni on two different shows in the 2012 season (Caliente and Return to Paradise). Big Mike and his wife, Shannon Newton, produce and direct The Dames Aflame Show, which lead to a collaboration with Zumanity alum Andrew Watson, Cal McCrystal and Thierry Mugler at Just for Laughs Montreal. And most recently, Geier has been travelling the world with his cabaret clown act, Puddles Pity Party, which was featured on the Aqua Teen Hunger Force Live Tour and The Eels 2013 East coast and European tours, as well as continuous cameos at Sleep No More NYC.

Big Mike’s talent goes beyond the stage and onto the screen with appearances on Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, MTV, Playboy TV and PBS. He made his provocative, scene-stealing big screen debut alongside Luke Perry and LeAnn Rhimes in the film Good Intentions. Outside of performing, Big Mike and his wife have a music studio in Avondale Estates where they write and record music for Cartoon Network/Adult Swim and various commercial projects.
