Radiation City

Radiation City

From the power duo who brought you (and continue to bring you) Soap Collectors and Spesus Christ comes a new destination called Radiation City. Warmly caressed guitar and and whirling Wurlitzer will wrap around you like a tune from yesteryear, when tubes were in amps and televisions, not just online. There's something aged that warbles about from Radiation City that will take you away on nostalgia wiser than your years while thoughtfully reminiscing in something you've yet to hear. Mellowed harmonies and fading keys pressed between pages of staccato'd heartbeat-drums guarantee yet another calmly addicting set of sounds from these fantastic cats.

Navid & Jen of Not Amy

“Mi familia” is what vocalist Jen Borst calls Not Amy. It is the same haven for the seasoned songwriters, Chad Bault and Navid Eliot, who form its core. Their ease and connection with one another show in every aspect of their performance and writing.
Navid Eliot and Jen Borst of the band Not Amy.

Prior to Not Amy, Navid helped to create the successful Seattle retro-pop band, Curtains For You, and had a prolific solo career in the Northwest. Chad Bault followed a similar path, touring both as a solo act, and as the front man of Portland's Train Go Sorry. Luck brought them together with Jen Borst, who completed the harmonic landscape; Mitch Sander (bass) and Shelby Cuyle (percussion) rounded out the trio’s sound, and the band was born.

Their debut EP, Walking Shoes, was released in March 2013. The sound was crafted in the sagebrush openness of Yakima wine-country; far from the hothouse atmosphere of a larger music scene, the music is fresh and unfettered by expectations. Chad and Navid trade song-writing duties, and the album is a perfect sample of the nuanced blending of styles that this collaboration creates. Influenced by traditional folk, garage rock and sweeping ballads, it nonetheless doesn't sound like anything but itself.
