BARONESS formed in the summer of 2003 in Savannah, GA, but the bands roots run; all members, past and present, are friends from childhood in Lexington, VA at the foot of the mighty Blue Ridge Mountains. The band released a string of EP's shortly thereafter and toured North America and Europe heavily on the backs of each.

In late 2006, the band started work on their first proper full-length and Relapse debut Red Album. Upon its release in September of 2007, Red Album was a bold statement of intent that wowed fans and critics alike. The album landed on many year-end lists worldwide – Decibel, Metal Hammer (UK), Rock Sound (UK), Close Up (Sweden), and was even named album of the year by the international hard rock magazine Revolver.

BARONESS toured extensively following Red Album's release. The band traversed North America and Europe sharing stages with a who's who of the international metal scene; OPETH, HIGH ON FIRE, MINISTRY, WITCHCRAFT, GENGHIS TRON, CONVERGE, DANKO JONES, and more.

In late 2008 at the close of another grueling tour, and following their mind-blowing main-stage appearance at Scion Rock Fest, BARONESS holed up to write the highly-anticipated follow-up album to Red Album. The fruits of their labor were realized in April '09, when the quartet enlisted Grammy-nominated producer / engineer John Congleton (EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY, THE POLYPHONIC SPREE, THE ROOTS, BUDDY MILES, BLACK MOUNTAIN) to record the masterful Blue Record.

A bold new step in the BARONESS journey, Blue Record was released in the fall of 2009. The record was released to massive critical acclaim – the band adorned covers of respected magazines like Visions (Germany), Decibel (US) - and debuted at #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Blue Record was named as 2009 album of the year by Decibel magazine, and impacted on the best-of lists such as Pitchfork, Village Voice, PopMatters, Revolver, Rock Sound, Metal Hammer, and many, many more.

Most importantly, the band had created an album that resonated deeply with its diehard supporters. The band played to sold-out venues all across North America and Europe. BARONESS also embarked their first-ever Australian tour as part of the massive Soundwave Festival with FAITH NO MORE, JANE'S ADDICTION, AFI, and MESHUGGAH. The quartet followed with their debut Japanese appearances playing alongside ISIS.

BARONESS has just returned from their first ever Coachella performance and a massive US tour alongside MASTODON and BEWTEEN THE BURIED & ME. The band is preparing to wow crowds this summer at some of the world's best music festivals including Bonnaroo (US), Oya (Norway), Eurockenees (France), and more.

Royal Thunder is an Atlanta based, four-piece, progressive rock/metal, alternative band founded by lead guitarist Josh Weaver in 2006. After going through some lineup changes, Mlny Parsonz (bass/vocals) joined the group in 2007. Together, the two added drummer Lee Smith whom Weaver and Parsonz had played with in a previous band, and then last but not least Josh Coleman (rhythm guitar) was added to the fold.

Royal Thunder self-recorded and released a seven song EP in late 2009 before signing with renowned independent label, Relapse Records, who re-issued the EP in 2010. The band quickly gained critical praise, being described as "Led Zeppelin astride a psychedelic unicorn" by and "Black Math Horseman or Johnette Napolitano of Concrete Blonde, fronting Black Sabbath." by Brooklyn Vegan.

Royal Thunder is set to release their proper full-length debut entitled 'CVI' via Relapse Records in the spring of 2011. 'CVI' is a sultry, southern, hard rock thinker of an album that is an absolute must have for fans of the Atlanta and Savannah hard rock scenes (Mastodon, Baroness, Kylesa, Black Tusk, etc). Royal Thunder have crafted an unforgettable, truly soulful sound with 'CVI'.

With a hard-hitting, hypnotic live show that is more of a ritual than a rock concert, the four piece has been capturing audiences with their passionate performances, sharing the stage with a range of artists including Scott Kelly of Neurosis, Wovenhand, Birds of Avalon, Kylesa, and many more. Keep this band on your radar in 2012 and beyond.
