Larry Hosford & Band

Larry Hosford & Band

Santa Cruz, CA – Larry Hosford started playing at the old Catalyst on Front Street in 1974 when he signed with Shelter Records and teamed up with Fly By Night, who had a regular monthly gig going. By the time the new place opened, he had his own band who headlined the place many times. He practically lived at the club until moving to Nashville in '79. Reno followed that, yet he managed to keep his hand in at The Catalyst. Still, being remote from Santa Cruz, the shows became less frequent. The last time he played there was in about 1987 when he was living in San Juan Bautista.

His upcoming show might be thought of as a homecoming. It takes place in the Catalyst Atrium on July 6, 2013. Doors open at 7:30, show starts at 8:00 p.m. Old, young and everyone in between are encouraged to attend, whether it’s for a trip down memory lane or a musical history lesson. Roots, Americana, New Country: All fancy names for a sound that’s been around and reinvented time after time. Larry Hosford is a fine example of all of these monikers, offering up his songs full of word play, insight, humor, and honesty. Hosford and his rockin’ good-time band are better than ever, and won’t disappoint.
