ARORA (Album Release Show)

ARORA (Album Release Show)

Combining beautiful harmonies and unique electronic production, Arora (formerly Sonos) has created a genre of their own. 2012-2013 has seen the band working on their new album of all original music, which will be independently produced by the group's very own Christopher Given Harrison. The five vocalists have combined their passions for songwriting and innovative vocal production on this third studio release, as well as expanding upon the use of electronic effects in their live show. The new album will be released 7.30.13.

Emerging in the fall of '09 from the Los Angeles vocal scene, Arora (formerly Sonos) turned the a cappella genre on its head with bold vocal+electronic interpretations of popular indie material. On their Verve Records debut SonoSings (2009) the group reinvented artists like Radiohead, Bon Iver, Bjork, Fleet Foxes, Imogen Heap, and dazzled with a dark, trip-hop take on a Jackson 5 classic. Sonos also put out a holiday album December Songs (2010), which includes their beautiful renditions of the classics along with a couple of originals.

Special appearances over the past three years include live radio sessions on NPR's Weekend Edition, KCRW, BBC Americana, Studio 360 and Sirius/XM; performances at SXSW '11, Sundance '10, TED, Celtic Connections, ASCAP Awards and accompanying Sara Bareilles at the Orpheum Theater; plus performances at MojaMoja's Pre-Grammy Brunch '12, colleges, clubs and performing arts spaces all around the country. Sonos also made an appearance for millions of viewers on season 3 of "The Sing Off" on NBC.

ARORA is Christopher Harrison, Jessica Freedman, Katharine Hoye, Rachel Bearer, and Ben McLain.

Katie Boeck

With her honest, lyrical poeticism, melodic vocal agility, and heartbreakingly vulnerable live performance, Katie is the perfect combination of roots-y, confessional folk with a contemporary, soulful freshness. Following graduation from UCLA where she gained a loyal fan-base, winning best solo and overall performance 3 years in a row at Spring Sing, the annual concert event drawing over 10,000 attendees, Katie landed a touring gig in an all-female cover band--in India. What she thought would merely be a great way to make her first decent living as a musician, turned into a life-changing, inspiring experience, personally and musically. 5 months later, Katie returned to Los Angeles and immediately assembled a band of her own, refining her sound, and playing venues to rapidly growing audiences in New York and LA like Hotel Cafe, Room 5, Bootleg Bar, Witzend, Rockwood Music Hall, and The Living Room. Katie is, as some have called her, a “revelation". "Think of Carrie Underwood with the virtuoso talent of Beyonce and the quiet soulfulness of Adele." -NBC Universal
