EJECA may be based on the outskirts of the nu-house music mecca of Belfast, however his musical roots have been firmly planted from an early age being brought up on 90s garage house. Experimenting with many genres like disco, garage, deep house and techno his trademark vocal driven emotive sound flows in all of his productions. 2012 will see him release on AUS Music, Saints & Sonnets, W&O Street Tracks, Future Classic and more . With support on BBC Radio and from luminaries as diverse as Erol Alkan to Jackmaster to Sasha, the right heads are taking notice, it’s time you did too.
Detroit-meets-disco vibe. Vocal hip-house workouts. Garage and late night electro-funk. Sleazy analogue synth wave. Upfront deep house.
These are just a few examples used trying to describe DJ and producer Tom Trago’s ever growing catalogue.
Like a modern day renaissance man, Trago refuses to be bound by the rules of just the one genre but mixes and matches all his influences, into an infectious concoction of mesmerizing grooves. Or as he puts it; “In the end it’s just about you developing yourself and not keeping up with the pressure of maintaining some kind of sound. If it’s honest music, your signature will always be there.” You might call it a hybrid form of house and futuristic boogie but maybe it’s better to just define it as the Tom Trago sound.
Trago has come a long way from being the shy young DJ dropping off a demo of his debut track ‘Live at The BBQ’ at the Rush Hour headquarters in 2006.
Since he has established himself as an in-demand international DJ, released his acclaimed album ‘Voyage Direct’ and its follow up ‘Iris’, worked with the likes of Philippe Zdar, Tyree Cooper and Romanthony, launched his own label ‘Voyage Direct’ under the Rush Hour flag – pushing a tight network of emerging Dutch DJs and producers like Maxi Mill into the spotlight – and soon after was asked by Amsterdam Club Trouw to host a quarterly labelnight under the same name. He perfected his rock solid live set and has been entertaining and impressing festivalgoers and clubkids alike. To top it all off his 12” ‘Use Me Again’ became a 2012 summer anthem driving every dancefloor from New York to Amsterdam into a frenzy!
And this is just the beginning. All round, forward thinking and front runner Tom Trago has quite a few more tricks up his sleeve for us to enjoy! Future dancefloor stomper ‘Rise Up’ and its B-side ‘Sky High’ sees Trago getting back together with musical partners in crime Cinnaman and San Proper and will be released later this fall. And early 2013 we can expect Trago’s new full-length to cause another storm.
Sleazemore’s personality in American electro culture is big and hugelike the ocean is deep. The ever-ready party machine has been known called the antithesis of many bad decisions. His party in San Francisco, Light’s Down Low (nominated for best club in SF ‘08 music awards), is an essential spot, acting as a minor league for artists who shortly after become major players, and has recently become intenational with the opening of Lights Down Low Amsterdam and Lights Down Low France to much acclaim. Sleazemore’s graphic design is not only in demand, but has been one of the most influential of today’s electro scene. His track selection is consistently solid he’s been known to mix the hottest track of the minute with the hottest track of tomorrows when it’s not even 5 hours old. He’s shared the stage with the likes of Simian Mobile Disco, Green Velvet, Justice and the Ed Banger Crew, MSTRKRFT, Boys Noize, Laidback Luke, Jesse Rose, Miss Kittin, Tiefschwarz, Kid Cudi, Felix Da Housecat, Major Lazer, Matthew Dear, the Sounds, Sinden, Crookers, A-trak, Trevor Loveys, Dj Craze, The Glimmers, Tim Sweeney,The Jaun Maclean, Tommie Sunshine and countless others and has played everywhere from NYC to Berlin to Mexico City to Paris.
Makes Me Move aka DJ M3
MAKES ME MOVE aka dj M3 , is a respected and highly-experienced San Francisco Bay Area DJ, promoter and venue owner. He started out in 1994 with an infectious downtempo style of playing and over time honed it into a fluid, uptempo approach that is composed of house, techno and disco. This characteristically Bay Area method of DJing was carefully and thoughtfully developed by moving and delighting dance floors at his own Green Gorilla Lounge party, an event that he hosted at club and underground spaces all over San Francisco with Anthony Masnfield and starting the Disco Knights camp at BRC. In fact, Green Gorilla Lounge stands out as mythical in the city’s rich history of dance music clubs and parties.
Green Gorilla Lounge soon became well-known as an event where clubbers and music enthusiasts could hear legendary and soon-to-be legendary local and out-of-town talent. Many years of hosting and playing at these always exhuberant events allowed DJ M3 to become one of the San Francisco DJs who truly defined the sound of the city in the 1990s and into the next two decades. The parties also helped him develop his craft further and provided a platform from which he launched his Green Gorilla Lounge record label. His collaborations with Phil ‘Rene’ Collis of Bachelors of Science led to their further alliance as Sleight of Hands and to releases on Green Gorilla Lounge and other respected imprints such as, Smoke ’N’ Mirrors, Om, Sirenum, and Chillin’ Records. As Sleight of Hands they performed together at Outsidelands and Coachella in 2013 and at the San Francisco Treasure Island Music Festival in 2014.
DJ M3 moved onto other ambitious projects like the Tweakin'/Black Pancake record store and Triple Crown nightclub and has kept moving forward with his passion for music. He is now co-owner, along with Chris Smith of Om Records, of one of San Francisco’s best clubs, a central, downtown named Monarch and Great Northern in the design district. When he is not in the studio crafting future dance floor classics, he can be found rocking clubs, bars and underground parties all over the city with his signature DJ sound. With a colorful past behind him and a creative and future ahead there is no doubt that he will continue with his lifelong love of being behind the turntables and making music.
