G. Calvin Weston's Treasures of the Spirit

G. Calvin Weston's Treasures of the Spirit

G. Calvin Weston is a Philadelphia native who idolized Billy Cobham (Miles Davis and Mahavishnu Orchestra drummer) from a young age. He has been recording, touring and playing professionally for over 35 years, since he was just 17 and joined Ornette Coleman's group. When a young Weston auditioned for Coleman's group it was Cobham's licks that he "borrowed" to get the gig. Not knowing what to play with Coleman's Free Jazz, Weston just decided to play Mahavishnu drum parts to it, and he got the gig! Now in his early 50s, Weston has formed a group of some of Philadelphia's top jazz and rock players to pay tribute to Cobham, John McLaughlin and Mahavishnu Orchestra!

An instrumental quadruped out of Newark, DE focusing on recreating the sounds of dreams, out of body experiences, and the explorations of the inner workings of your conscious and unconscious mind.
