Young Invent

If someone told you this kid was just another rapper looking for a record deal they were sadly mistaken. Knowing Invent gives you access to one of LA's greatest sons.

Born Jeffrey Murphy to an amazing mother named Cassandra the road traveled up this point has not been an easy one. At twelve, he was struck by a speeding-car and at twenty he survived five gun shot wounds to the body. And yet again when he was twenty-one he faced death once more after being shot three times at close range. At the hospital he was pronounced dead, but through the grace of God and Jesus, he survived to rap another day.

His name, Invent, was given to him by his fans because of his creative quickness, his unique invention of ideas and the way he paints stories to beats at the drop of a hat. He can hold his own in an MC battle with witty freestyles as well as construct catchy hooks that go with thought provoking rhymes. His style is not limited to street thug, or club, but is very versatile and will stimulate the most intellectual of hip-hop fans. This attribute will give him a long lasting career amongst the one dimensional MCs and one hit wonders present in today’s Hip-Hop society.

Invent...released his first radio single, Club City, with Sony producer, Automatic. It has been well received by industry heads and radio DJ’s and made it to the semi-finals in the 2006 Independent Music World Series (West Coast) out of 1,000+ entries. It was debuted in Los Angeles on KDAY 93.5 and on XM radio in September 07. The next singles, We & Mucho Fuego; with new up and coming producer, E.R.G., and Fire produced by renowned mixer/producer Joe Warlick are in the mixing labs and will be ready to release in 1st and 2nd quarters 2012.

His stage presence is unmatched by most. The electric energy he exudes while on stage always leaves the fans charged and refreshed! Throughout his career he has had the opportunity to open up for Hip-Hop greats - Bone Thugs and Harmony, Brooke Valentine, T.I., DJ Clue, Chamillionaire, Paul Wall, Moses Malone, Yo Gotti, Mack 10, Marcus Houston and Ja Rule to name a few.

Right now Invent is hot off the show circuit finishing up the Nationwide MOS Wanted Tour 2011 (16 Cities in 3 months) and getting geared up for the MOS Wanted 2 Tour launching this February 2012. Invent... has also been very active throughout his career appearing on BET and SiTV, showcasing his talents on various Mixtapes and continuously performing throughout California and Baja, MX. His newest Mixtape, Alpha is hot off the press and available for digital download on the IR website.

Also check out his independent videos for the “Money by Any Means” Mixtape (2010); Get Up (directed by Joe Sample & The Doja), and Sweet Salvation (directed by The Doja). Both videos along with other freestyles can be found on the Music/Videos link page on the Inventive Records website at:
When Young Invent is not performing and promoting his music he is always highly active in the studio creating new songs for his breakthrough album - "The Introduction" scheduled for 4th quarter 2012.
