The Composure

As a nod to some of the music that helped to shape their own sound, Pittsburgh pop-punkers THE COMPOSURE have announced “Singled Out”: A 90’s Covers Collection set for release on June 18.

Featuring hits from Semisonic, Fastball, Harvey Danger, Sublime, Blind Melon and Goo Goo Dolls, the digital EP will capture The Composure’s own power-pop essence within some of the biggest songs of the 90s. Leading off with “Closing Time” – which premiered via video featurette at today – the track list for Singled Out also includes “The Way” (featuring Jack O’Shea of Bayside), “Flagpole Sitta,” “Badfish,” “No Rain” and “Slide.”

Hailing from the industrial-hub of Pittsburgh, PA, comes indie-rock band Instead of Sleeping. Comprised of Shaun Sweeney (guitar/lead vocals), Jeff Binando (bass/backup vocals), Woody Wright (guitar/keys/auxiliary percussion) Corey McClaine (drums); this four-piece has been demanding attention of the Steel City and beyond with their signature blend of contemporary indie rock since their 2008 inception. They released their first effort, a self-titled full-length in March 2010 and followed it up with their Just Hear to Listen EP soon after in January 2011.

During their years together, Instead of Sleeping has evolved from a hookah-bar jam band into a multi-instrumental outfit. Now showcasing two drum kits, keys, and a myriad of other sound that transformed the band from a traditional indie-rock quartet into a swelling stage presence. The fellas built up a strong reputation as an independent rock band touring regionally on their third studio effort, The Reds, The Blacks, The Grays, which dropped in the Spring of 2012. The band has been privileged to share the stage with notable national acts fun., The Dear Hunter, O’Brother, and Good Old War.

Instead of Sleeping is set to release their next album titled Young Lungs in summer of 2014. They headed out to Chicago to work with renowned producer/mixer Marc McClusky (Weezer, Bad Religion, Ludo, Let Live) on their new full-length project. The band credits McClusky for refining their musical chops, stating, “We learned more about music and songwriting in the sixteen days that we spent with him in SAE Institute than we ever had in our entire lives. He really challenged us to write outside of our comfort zones. While this was terrifying, going through a creative and musical gauntlet, we came out of it with an album that we couldn’t be more proud of.”

Nevada Color

Ever get that feeling that you just want to break loose and dance the night away? Spend an evening with the energetic quintet Nevada Color, and you’ll be yearning for more. In the Summer of 2012, drummer Jeremy Westhead opened his garage to begin the start of something new and exciting. This garage was the birthplace for indie-pop rockers Nevada Color. After many long nights of writing in the summer of 2012, Nevada Color began the process of what was to become their first EP Sharkey Lewis.
Nevada Color is composed of Quinn Wirth, Max Kovalchuk, Chris Cichra, Adam Valen, and Jeremy Westhead. The five members all share unique interests in music, which really brings together one unique sound. Influences range from The Strokes, to Kings of Leon, to The Killers, creating unique, high-energy, and eclectic indie-pop music. Their style of sleek and modern indie-pop soars through vocalist Wirth’s booming vocals. Their debut LP Adventures (released 5/6/2014) has Wirth belting lyrics talking about adventures experienced when you walk out your front door. The album is accompanied with catchy hooks played by lead guitarist’s Adam Valen’s Telecaster, as well as upbeat and powerful bass lines from Chris Cichra. When asked what the meaning of 'Adventures is', songwriter and rhythm guitarist Max Kovalchuk replies with "life". Filled with excitement, anticipation, and pleasure, these experience helped him write through the lyrics of Adventures.
The band followed up the release of their debut full-length with a 20+ day US Tour, traveling from New York, to Tennessee, to Illinois. Nevada Color has found their way in to print publications, major radio play in Pittsburgh, and has shared the stage with acts like Cold War Kids, Tokyo Police Club, Miniature Tigers, SKATERS, The Apache Relay, Youngblood Hawke, and more.
