Dawn Hiatt & Friends Album Release Show

Dawn Hiatt & Friends Album Release Show

Born to a family of musicians and race car drivers, Dawn Hiatt grew up singing in church in Western New York. Her family eventually resettled to the farmlands of Southern New Jersey outside Philadelphia. After finishing college, Dawn shuffled off to New York City where she began her career in writing and performing original music. Her experiences caring for orphans in Guatemala, teaching inner city middle school students in New York, working as a nanny in Chicago and traveling all over America have been instrumental in her songwriting. However, her life was drastically altered once she returned from these many travels and began work on her debut album The Waking Hours. While recording this record at Turtle Studios in Philadelphia Dawn not only began to find her voice as a songwriter, but the love of her life. Working with a group of local South Jersey based musicians she’d known for some time and the very best of Philadelphia’s studio musicians, she endeavored to capture her artistry and worldly travels in music under the guidance of producer, and soon-to-be husband, Jeff Hiatt. Now, all the richer for her continuing experience as a musician and songwriter and having undergone the transformation from hopeful musician and singer to established artist with a distinct and powerful voice, Dawn is treading forward, constantly exploring and reinventing and continually drawing on the roots of her family, faith, and love—all of which find their ultimate expression in her music.
