The Big Wu Family Reunion XIII Pre-Party
The musical influences that helped create the Big Wu were loud, and large, and heartfelt. And over the past seven years, this Minnesota troupe has stepped into the role of creating the type of music that wants to course through your veins. Writing in truly American styles, the Big Wu slides, bends, rumbles, and chicken-picks with on the top intensity and good-time fervor.
The Boys N’ The Barrels
Comprised of five members, instrumentation includes Banjo, Acoustic Guitar, Fiddle, Harmonica, Upright Bass, and light Percussion. Their sound is energetic and creative. A deep, introspective message underlines the up-tempo, foot thumping melodies and hooks as The Boys explore subjects such as love, philosophy, environmentalism, booze, and death.
My roots run deep in the Midwestern Music Community. Immersed with many generations of musicians, I was born into Minneapolis West Bank culture along the Mississippi River. But I also grew up playing tunes in the hills of rural Wisconsin. Never correctly defined as a city girl or country bumpkin, I had the best double lived childhood a kid could ask for.
I won my first music competition singing at the Boyceville, WI Pickle Festival when I was five. Later I began singing harmony with my dad Rod Bellville (a popular fixture in the Old Time Music Scene) and his friends when they performed, and eventually began singing on my own.
My music has taken me onto the stage with Alison Krauss at The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville TN, to a 3,000 seat outdoor amphitheater in Roosevelt National Park, and through the Hutterite colonies of Northern Montana.
Its amazing how music connects us with both friends and strangers. I’ve met so many wonderful people through my performances and songwriting. I am continually overwhelmed with the support and love that I receive for my music.
I’ve been developing my style of songwriting for ten years. I use bluegrass instrumentation, a hint of blues, a dash of yodeling, and my contemporary music taste for influence. I love to sing, few things in the world make me happier.
