Everyone can now make music. The increasing access to music related technology and the liquid flow of music and information is a blessing to aspiring musicians, but a curse to those who have to sift through the terrible mash-ups and tunes in order to find quality music. Based out of New York City’s Lower East Side, The Knocks are taking a stand and reclaiming good music for all.

The Knocks - Ben “B-Roc” Ruttner and James “Jpatt” Patterson - garnered their name from the early days of their production career when they tirelessly worked out of their home studios and complaining neighbors would knock on their doors. Coupled with DJing and making mixtapes, the pair cobbled together enough money to open their studio; HeavyRoc Music. Following the tried and tested route of classic New York producers of the past, the pair would head straight from the studio to the club with a new fresh jam to test on the crowd in their DJ sets.

They have since produced original material and remixes for Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Marina & the Diamonds, and now their own music. With heavy rotation on Australia’s Triple J, their single “Make It Better” was released on Neon Gold Records and their hit “Dancing With the DJ” was #1 on both the Hype Machine and Japan’s iTunes. The Knocks have been taking their energetic live dance party all over the world, including their sold out NYC Bowery Ballroom debut, Tammany Hall headlining show and their European tour with Sleigh Bells and M.I.A. They’ve shared the stage with acts like Big Boi, Chromeo, and just finished a U.S. tour with Ellie Goulding. Be prepared, because The Knocks will be knocking at your door and stereo very soon.

Mike Dee(z)

The DJ is the cornerstone to the emcee, the party, the club, and the scene. Not only does DJ Mike Deez hold down the fort on the ones and twos, but dude gets every party popping like no other. This native son of Denver’s Northglenn grew up rummaging through his folks’ vinyl collection. Eventually manifesting this love of all things sonic into playing with various punk/ progressive rock bands near the turn of the century. From there Mike Deez began spinning his band’s afterparties, eventually realizing his true talent rested in making the crowd dance, not mosh. Today, finding a truly dope DJ can be pressing. Unfortunately we’re all too familiar with the same tired power-mixes and mundane Top-40 snoozers. Some of these guys now couldn’t move the crowd with a gun, but Mike Deez is of a rare breed. He feels the energy. He moves where the music directs him while unwaveringly giving the people what they want - a party. During his stint in Chicago, Mike Deez became a regular on the club/ lounge scene spinning at Sonoteque, Burlington, and Pint; as well as Wicker Park hotspots Blue Note, and accepting residency at Plan B. Always venturing down various avenues of music and media he’s assisted in PR projects for Biz3, home to heavyweights Justice and Daft Punk. DJ Mike Deez left his fingerprints on everything from fashion shows, to house parties, even leading his hand to guest production duties for local Chicago emcees.

Upon moving back to Denver Mike became resident DJ at Beta, voter #1 club in America, yes America, by DJ Magazine. He’s spun alongside renowned DJs Designer Drugs, Villians, DMC Champion’s DJ Craze, Daft Punk’s DJ Falcon, Tittsworth, La Riots, and Tommie Shunshine among others. He’s had guest appearances at Denver Indie staples Lipgloss and Disco Nouveau, as well as the world famous Monolith Music Festival. DJ Mike Deez is continuing to hold down Denver thoroughly, spinning the illest and keeping backs sweating from Sunday to Monday. The kid knows music, he knows people, and most importantly, he will keep your ass moving. Period.

Charles Buckley, aka Charles B, hails from Richmond, Virginia but took the high road to Denver some years back. When Charles strays away from his nine to five, he is stirring a frenzy on Ableton for his next show around the Centennial State.
