James Day And The Fish Fry

James Day is a vocalist and harmonica player backed by a stellar group of musicians collectively known as "The Fish Fry." This is your full service "Jump Blues and New Orleans Grooves" band. Based in the Mid-Atlantic, James Day and the Fish Fry perform at festivals and venues in Canada and along the East Coast. On any given night, one can hear all styles of the blues, from New Orleans street parades, Cuban Rumbas, Swamp Pop, Zydeco, Carolina Shag, Down Home Delta Blues to that Classic Chicago sound. Their CD's are played on satellite radio, roots music stations and overseas radio.

The Jersey Corn Pickers

The Jersey Corn Pickers are a Philly area band that plays original and traditional, high energy bluegrass and Americana music. They are busy performing at clubs, coffee houses and festivals all over the northeast promoting their self-titled debut CD. They won the 2011 band competition at the Lehigh Valley Bluegrass Festival and have been selected to compete in 2012 band contest at the IBMA Event of the Year winner Podunk Bluegrass Festival. Their live shows are rowdy affairs that will put a smile on your face!

Dani Mari

An avid fan of Billie Holiday and Mazzy Star, Dani Mari was born to sing. Her music is fueled by personal narratives embedded in the craft of classic story telling and the emotional insight of a most unlikely “old soul”. Audiences across the United States and throughout Europe have gravitated toward her beautifully haunting voice and the simplistic elegance of her lyrics which transcend our current snap shot of popular music. She has been featured on NPR, BBC, MTV, WXPN (including the Gene Shay Folk Show on WXPN) and Brooklyn Vegan and has collaborated with FEAR CLUB from Paris, Sun Glitters and was formally in the dreampop duo, Lockets. She has performed at SXSW, The Philadelphia Folk Festival, Musikfest and many other festivals and venues across the world. In addition she has performed with acts such as Sylvan Esso, St. Lucia, Twin Sister, Exitmusic, Widowspeak, Mates of State, Patti Smith, Edward Sharp & the Magnetic Zeros, Of Montreal and more.

M’Balia is a Philly-based singer-songwriter trying to spread a little love in the world, or at least make a soundtrack for those trying to do so. She started singing around the kitchen table with her family, the most gorgeous 4-part harmony you could ever imagine. Her sound has been described as sometimes rock, sometimes pop, but always full of soul.

The Philadelphia Music Co-op presents a handful of local acts in one night for a juried showcase. This is one of several such showcases in which PMC artists will perform in front of fans and Folk Fest programmers to prove they've got what it takes to entertain us at the 2013 Philadelphia Folk Festival.
