Unsung Jimmy Van Heusen

Unsung Jimmy Van Heusen

UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC) presents an intimate evening celebrating the centennial of legendary four-time Academy Award-winning composer Jimmy Van Heusen. Hosted by Tony Award-nominated stage and screen star Tom Wopat (Catch Me If You Can, The Trip to Bountiful, Django Unchained), UNSUNG JIMMY VAN HEUSEN will feature an array of celebrated performers backed by a jazz trio!

Interspersed with Mr. Van Heusen’s signature standards such as “The Tender Trap”, “Call Me Irresponsible” and “Moonlight Becomes You”, this jazz-filled evening will showcase the little-known gems from his five Broadway musicals (Skyscraper, Carnival in Flanders, Walking Happy, Nellie Bly, Swingin’ the Dream) and his fabled Johnny Burke & Bing Crosby song series The Flop Parade!

An intimate evening to benefit UnsungMusicalsCo. Inc.

UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC) is a not-for-profit production company dedicated to the preservation of musical theatre through the restoration and presentation of obscure but artistically sound works. Focusing primarily on overlooked projects from the Golden Age of musical theatre, UMC treats each property as a new work thereby providing a unique collaboration between the artists of today and those of the past. Currently in its fifth year, recent UMC projects include acclaimed Off-Broadway productions of The Fig Leaves Are Falling by Allan Sherman and Albert Hague, and Make Mine Manhattan by Arnold B. Horwitt and Richard Lewine; a starry concert production of At Home Abroad by Howard Dietz and Arthur Schwartz; and world premiere concerts of Gatsby by Hugh Wheeler, Lee Pockriss and Carolyn Leigh, and Nothing is Forever by Morton Gould and Carolyn Leigh. UMC is also devoted to researching, assembling and restoring the material from unpublished and out-of-print musical shows; in order to preserve these works for future generations, UMC’s material is receiving its own collection in the Billy Rose Theatre Division of the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.
