Cathey Cotten's Allstar 'Evil Plan'

Cathey Cotten's Allstar 'Evil Plan'

Throughout the years, Cathey Cotten has performed a wide range of musical styles working with many bands and projects. Whether it is fronting the popular Wicked Blues Band "Elliott's Evil Plan" with Elliott Shannonhouse, laying down Funky Jazz Grooves with Susan Copperman and "The Mighty Groove", singing for Bay Area legends like Jules Brussard or fronting her new funk band "The Real Thang", Cat continues to delight her fans.

Before studying Music Theory and Performance at Cypress College, Cathey was "weaned on county and blues" by her father, Texas based blues singer and guitarist Tom Cotten. She spent her youth singing gospel music at various stadium festivals filled with Southern Baptists during the day and then performing country and blues with her dad in bars at night. Later, she pulled up roots, moved to Southern California, and decided to leave the “country” behind — singing jazz in local cafés throughout Los Angeles and Orange County and working popular venues with Cypress College's Big Band as lead vocalist. Cathey brought all her influences with her when she moved to San Francisco and started performing in the city's nightclubs in 1989.

Best known for her powerful vocals and her command of a wide range of musical styles including Blues, R&B, Soul, Rock, Funk and Jazz, in addition to fronting various projects, you can often find Cathey singing backup for many Bay Area Bands.
