Grand Ole Echo with Olin And The Moon

Grand Ole Echo

Olin And The Moon

Olin and the Moon has accomplished a difficult task in the music realm, straddling two worlds successfully. The world of the indie scene and the alt-country scene, a combination that can be

seen in the varying faces of their audience. The roots of this five-piece outfit started in Sun Valley, Idaho. The town possesses a thick history of being the go-to place for artists since the 1930's. It is in this art-rich country haven backdrop, that brothers David (lead vocals, guitar) and (guitarist) Travis LaBrel met (drummer) Marshall Vore and began their own creative journey down the road of sound. In 2005, feeling the limitations and entrapments of small town life, the road led them to Los Angeles and the meeting of members Brian McGinnis (Banjo/Pedal Steel) and (Bass) Kyle Vicioso. Together, Olin and The Moon have created a unique sound that mixes alt-country with roots rock and youthful folky lyrics.

Kathleen Grace

“Voice like jazzy English church bells… In the past, I have sat on my very own patio, listening to Grace on the stereo, begging her not to ever stop. Lately she’s been making jazzy interpretations of country music, which seems an odd marriage. Haunting steel-guitar riffs crossed with Grace’s jazz-infused interpretations? Pure buttah. And her five-piece band is tight, tasteful and — this night at least — features the terrific Anthony Wilson, guitarist for Diana Krall.”
