Long considered the “Kings of a Cappella,” these classic crooners boast a wide repertoire of doo-wop, gospel, and songs from The Beatles to U2.

This Brooklyn-based group of soul-singin’ harmony-makers was discovered by legendary rocker and musical experimentalist Frank Zappa in 1968.

They have released 26 acclaimed albums, including popular tribute records dedicated to The Beatles, The Grateful Dead, and U2, and have performed with artists such as Stevie Wonder and Van Morrison.

During the 1960s and ’70s they were the only secular a cappella group to get serious recognition. Today, groups like Boyz II Men and Rockapella have acknowledged the group’s formidable influence.

“For decades they have been taking a cappella music to ever-new heights, reminding generations of musicians that the human voice is the subtlest and most powerful of all instruments.”—Brian Eno of The Talking Heads
